National Breakfast Programme
Upton Cross Primary School joined the Government’s National School Breakfast Programme (NSBP) in October 2024. The scheme, currently delivered by the charity Family Action offers bagels and breakfast cereals to schools.

Upton Cross is offering a free bagel to all our children allowing the children to have the right fuel for learning and ensuring that all our children have access to food before they start their action packed school day.
There were a number of different ways to distribute the bagels to the children. We decided the best way to offer our children a bagel was by distributing them in the playground. This way we ensure that every child at Upton Cross is given additional fuel for learning before they start their day. The nursery children have a bagel during their snack time.
Breakfast Club
Alongside this, we offer a Breakfast Club running from 7:30am.
We will continue to offer Breakfast Club free of charge for families with children on both sites to help ease the challenges of drop-offs and pick-ups. This provision is also all open to all other families at a cost of £3 per day.
How to Sign Up: If you are interested in this provision, please sign up via Arbor: Select Meals > Paid Breakfast Club. You will then be prompted for payment. You can select a whole week or individual days.
Timings: 7:30am – 8:35am
Future Provision: We are currently awaiting further guidance from the ggovernment regarding potential funding for school breakfast programs. Until this is confirmed, we are unfortunately unable to offer the service free of charge to additional families.
We are committed to supporting child development, and believe a healthy school breakfast, without barrier or stigma, can set up children to succeed and give them the very best chance to learn.
