Early Years Foundation Stage (Summer 2019)
Children in Reception are assessed on their performance in 17 ‘Early Learning Goals’ across 7 ‘Areas of Learning’.
Children are assessed as either ‘Emerging’, ‘Expected’ or ‘Exceeding’ in each of the 17 early learning goals.

Phonics Screening (Summer 2019)
All children are tested in their ability to decode 40 words at the end of Year 1. Those who do not achieve the appropriate level at the end of Year 1 or who arrive at school after the end of Year 1 are assessed again at the end of Year 2.

Key Stage 1 (Summer 2019)
At the end of Key Stage 1 (Year 2), children are teacher-assessed in Reading, Writing and Mathematics. 70.6% of the 2018-19 Year 2 cohort of pupils attended Upton Cross throughout Years 1 and 2.

Key Stage 2 (Summer 2019)
At the end of Key Stage 2 (Year 6), children sit national tests in reading, English Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (EGPS) and Mathematics and are teacher-assessed in Writing.

The government will not publish KS2 school level data for the 2021 to 2022 academic year. They have archived data from the 2018 to 2019 academic year because they recognise that the data from that year may no longer reflect current performance.
