Early Years Foundation Stage (Summer 2017)

Children in Reception are assessed on their performance in 17 ‘Early Learning Goals’ across 7 ‘Areas of Learning’.  Children are assessed as either ‘Emerging’, ‘Expected’ or ‘Exceeding’ in each of the 17 early learning goals.

Phonics Screening (summer 2017)

All children are tested in their ability to decode 40 words at the end of Year 1.  Those who do not achieve the appropriate level at the end of Year 1 or who arrive at school after the end of Year 1 are assessed again at the end of Year 2.
